ESSU Catalyst bags awards in OSSEI Paul Levin R. Olaybar

ESSU Catalyst, the official student publication of Eastern Samar State University – Main Campus, bagged awards in the recently concluded National Conference on Campus Journalism and 10th Writing Competition spearheaded by Organization of Student Services, Educators Inc. (OSSEI) at Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City on January 26-28, 2017.
Paul Levin R. Olaybar, Internal Managing Editor, won first place in the News Writing category, while Christian Dave C. Loren, Associate Editor, won fourth place in Editorial Writing.
Nine staffers from ESSU Catalyst were sent to represent ESSU and compete six different categories including News Writing, Editorial Writing, Feature Writing, Desktop Publishing and Layout Designing, Editorial Cartooning, and Photojournalism.
At least 35 universities and colleges all over the Philippines joined the competition.
The event aimed to help student journalists in their campuses in developing and enhancing their skills in campus journalism.
The organization will conduct its annual seminar workshop on campus journalism this coming September in Baguio City.
